There are myriads of golf club head covers in the market today, from the fanciest, animal-inspired models to the leather ones. In fact, many of them can be more expensive than the golf clubs they are supposed to protect. What to choose?
Before you consider showing off, make sure you select the type of golf club head cover that provides adequate protection for your beloved golf equipment. Definitely, don’t go for those cheapies with hardly even a lining behind the cover. The Numero Uno enemy of your irons is of course, moisture. Therefore, a cover with neoprene or other such protective materials should be seriously considered.
Once you’ve selected the protective item of choice, then you can proceed to the motif of the golf club head cover. This is where you ask yourself what kind of image you want to convey on the field. You will not choose a pink cover if you don’t wish to convey the Barbie Doll image amongst your competitors, will you?
Clue to your selection is the kind of golf equipment you keep. If your cache is full of titaniums, you should choose a golf club head cover with a metallic finish—or at the very least a corporate look. Such discriminate choice will keep you from looking like a freak in the golf club.
Remember, image plays a key role in the golf game. Sending confused messages, such as multicolored golf clubs in a multicolored cover or golf bag—will not boost your image ratings.
